Materials
As is mentioned on the front page the aim of this project is to share with the English-speaking world how exactly high school students in China learn about history. To this end, I've tried to locate the most official source materials that I could. All the translations on this site come from standardized, compulsory senior high school history books (普通高中课程标准试验料书, 历史必修课) printed by the the People's Education Press (人民教育出版社). See the cover image to the left for more information.
Translation
I've got quite a number of years experience translating Chinese (been studying it since before the flood), and I've tried to be as thorough as possible, but one of the purposes of this site is to discuss the rendering of certain Chinese historical and linguistic concepts into English, therefore I am including full color images of each Chinese language page and encourage comments and/or discussion from anyone who's interested.
Political Content
Granted, there will be ideas presented in the books that many people will want to discuss, but please keep the discourse to a sane level of intelligence. I reserve the right to delete stupid comments and troll garbage with extreme prejudice. If you want to rant, there are many other China related blogs (*cough ChinaSmack *cough) on the internet ideal for it.
About Me
Apparently, I'm a bit of geek.
